Mentorship Ministry

Scripturally Rooted

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as we see the Day approaching" ~ Hebrews 10:23-25

Purpose Statement

To establish and then encourage accountability relationships between new students and student mentors, for the purpose of encouraging spiritual growth.

"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." ~ Proverbs 27:17

Mutual Accountability. Different Responsibilities.

  • Mentors and mentorees are to build a relationship of accountability to each other. Mentors meet at least once a week with assigned mentorees.
  • Mentors are accountable to Committee. Committee members meet with mentors at least once every two weeks.
  • Committee is accountable to Dean's Department. Deans occasionally meet with committee.
  • All of us are accountable to God.

Expectations

  • Deans and Committee:
    • Will pray for the mentors.
    • Will provide resources and encouragement on mentorship to mentors.

    • Will provide a good example in their own personal devotions.
    • Will strive to be above reproach, lead an exemplary spiritual life, and support Calvary standards.
    • Must maintain a high standard of confidentiality.
    • Must be F.A.T. (faithful, available, teachable).

  • Mentorees:
    • At the end of the semester, mentorees may be asked to fill out an evaluation on their experience with the Mentorship Ministry.
    • Mentorees are to strive to be F.A.T. and will seek to have a consistent quiet time.
    • Responsibility to meet with mentor is not only on the mentor's shoulders.Mentorees will seek to meet consistently with mentors.
